IMPORTANT INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION FOR YOUR HEATING SYSTEM!!!!
Tips for this EXTREME COLD weather...
Condensing Gas Furnaces (90% Furnaces) have drain lines that terminate outside the home. Those drains freeze in these extreme temperatures. You can thaw, but chances are it will freeze again. If you have the ability to install a light near the drain, the heat from the light can keep it from freezing.
If your Heat Pump is not keeping up, be sure to run emergency heat. Call to schedule a service call. Heat Pumps also go into a defrost cycle at various times depending on the set up. While in defrost, the heat pump will sound louder than normal, expell steam from the top, and at the end of the cycle it will make a loud "whoosing" noise. Those are all NORMAL heat pump operations!
If your furnace does go out, try resetting your breaker. This may not be a permanent fix, but it may get you going temporarily. Be sure to call to schedule a service call.
