Indoor Air Quality

Improve your home health and well-being with our IAQ services & solutions.

We all know the dangers of smog and outdoor air pollution— but did you know that indoor air pollution is also a concern? As we run our HVAC units, we reuse the same air over and over again. As time passes, this causes the build-up of contaminants. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ranked indoor air as “a high priority public health risk,” even noting that indoor air can be vastly more polluted than the air outside!

So, what can we do about it? Start with an indoor air quality consultation with Andy Lewis HVAC. Here at Andy Lewis, we believe that, when you’re in your own home, you should be able to breathe good, healthy air. We can’t do much about the allergens and pollutants outside, but we can keep your inside air safe and clean. To learn more, contact our indoor air quality experts today.

Allergies, Asthma, & Indoor Air Pollutants

For anyone who has allergies or asthma, indoor air quality is an especially big concern, as it has a direct impact on your everyday comfort and health. Allergens such as dust, pollen, mold, pet dander, and cigarette smoke can build up in the air and cause heightened allergic reactions. Symptoms can include sneezing, eye irritation, sinus inflammation, and coughing. And, for those who have asthma, poor indoor air quality can lead to attacks that are both more frequent and more severe.

That’s not the only way in which indoor air quality impacts your health, either. Poor air quality in your home causes an increase in illness, resulting in more doctor visits and missed work and school. Allergies, colds, sinus infections, and bronchitis are just a few respiratory illnesses that can be caused or aggravated by breathing unclean air.

But again, all of these health risks are avoidable. With air purification services from Andy Lewis, you can ensure that your home is a safe place, guarded against that pollutant build-up. A simple indoor air quality consultation is the first step toward cleaner air and easier breathing, for you and your loved ones!

About Our Indoor Air Quality Services

One way you can improve the air quality in your home is to sign up for a maintenance plan, in which our technicians will come out twice a year or so to clean your HVAC unit and ensure it’s running as intended. This bi-yearly check-up can significantly improve air quality in your home or place of business. A clean system is the first step when it comes to healthy indoor air.

In addition to a preventative maintenance plan, Andy Lewis can also recommend a number of air purification solutions. In fact, we’d love to consult with you directly and to recommend some solutions that can improve the air quality in your home, without breaking the bank.

There are a number of indoor air solutions we can offer—including:

Air Scrubber Plus®

The Air Scrubber Plus will remove up to 99.9 percent of harmful contaminants and pathogens. It doesn’t just treat the air, the charged ions also help to clean the surfaces of your home, including countertops, bathrooms, kitchens, doorknobs, and airborne contaminants to keep your family safe. By scrubbing the air, you actually attack and destroy fungi, mold, and odor-causing bacteria in your home.

PureAir™ Purification System

The PureAir™ purification system is a whole-home solution that combats all three major types of indoor air contaminants by removing pollen, dust, and pet dander; attacks flu and cold viruses and other infectious bacteria; and destroys household odors. Unlike other air purification products on the market, the PureAir™ system does not produce any ozone, and in fact it actively works to reduce ozone in your home.

24V UV Light

Improve air quality by using the power of maximum-intensity ultraviolet light to dramatically reduce concentration of microorganisms like mildew, bacteria, and mold without ozone emissions.

Healthy Climate Media Air Cleaners

Filtration systems enhance your home’s comfort and air quality, providing a cleaner, healthier home environment for your family. Most home filtration systems are labeled with a MERV rating. The higher the MERV value the more efficient the filter is in trapping airborne particulars. Andy Lewis Heating and Air offers two options of media air cleaners, the Healthy Climate Carbon Clean 16® Media Air Cleaner and the Healthy Climate 11® Media Air Cleaner. Both options provide whole-home filtration with no additional energy cost, are compatible with any HVAC system, and have easy to replace cartridges.

Humidifiers

In the winter months, the average heated home can have a relative humidity as low as 13 to 16%. For perspective, the relative humidity of the Sahara Desert is 25% and Death Valley is 23%. A humidifier can keep your home typically between 35 to 55% relative humidity. As such, humidifiers can relieve dry, scratchy skin and lips; reduce the risk of nosebleeds and respiratory infections; help keep cold symptoms at bay; and even offer protection for your wood floors and furniture!

Dehumidifiers

When your air is properly dehumidified your home feels better, floor to ceiling. There is a fine balance to getting humidity levels right in your home, so the air isn’t too moist or too dry. Sometimes humidity problems are easy to spot and sometimes they aren’t. If your home exhibits any of these issues you might want to consider installing a dehumidifier:

  • Areas that are consistently damp

  • Musty odors

  • Sticky or clammy feeling in the air

  • Condensation or frost on windows

Properly dehumidified air protects furniture, draperies, and other home furnishings from moisture damage. It can also help make your air healthier by reducing the number of indoor allergens and pollutants and can allow you to save energy throughout the summer by keeping your air comfortable at more economical temperatures.
